How to use Watermark PDF

A watermark makes it clear a document is a draft, confidential, or yours, and discourages anyone from passing it off as something else. Sharing a sample, a quotation or a scanned ID? A faint diagonal line of text across every page does the job without hiding the content.

The watermark is written into each page with pdf-lib, inside your browser: text in a standard PDF font, or your logo as an image with its transparency kept. The pages underneath aren't redrawn, so text stays sharp and selectable, and the file is never uploaded.

Tiled repeats the mark across the whole page, which is the hardest to crop out; a single diagonal is the classic look; straight works best for a logo. Opacity around 20 to 30 percent keeps the page readable.

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. The watermark is added inside your browser tab and nothing is sent to a server.

Can I use my logo as a watermark?

Yes. Choose Image and add a PNG, JPG or WebP. A PNG with a transparent background looks best.

Can I write the watermark in Hindi or another script?

Text watermarks use a built-in PDF font that covers Latin letters. For other scripts, make an image of the text and use it as an image watermark.

Can the watermark be removed?

It's part of the page content, so it can't simply be switched off, but anyone with a PDF editor could work at removing it. Tiled watermarks are the hardest to remove cleanly.

Can I watermark a password-protected PDF?

Not yet. Remove the password first; the tool tells you if a file is protected.
