Meme generator
Top and bottom text, the classic way.
How to use Meme generator
- Drop an image onto the upload area.
- Type your top text and bottom text.
- Pick the text colour and outline colour. The text size adjusts automatically to fit the image.
- Choose an output format under Save as and click Download meme.
Type the top line and the bottom line and watch the preview update as you type — bold white text with a black outline, automatically sized and wrapped to fit the image, the format memes have used since the format existed.
Text is capitalised automatically and centred, and the font size shrinks on its own if a line is too long to fit at full size, so you don't have to fiddle with sizing by hand. Colours are adjustable if you want something other than the classic white-on-black.
Everything renders in your browser as you type — nothing is uploaded. Download when it looks right.
Questions
Why does my text get smaller when I type more?
The font size automatically shrinks to keep the line fitting within the image width, up to a point — past a certain length it wraps onto a second line instead of shrinking indefinitely.
Can I change the text colour?
Yes — the classic look is white fill with a black outline, but both colours are adjustable if you want a different combination.
Do I have to fill in both top and bottom text?
No — leave either one blank and only the other is drawn.
What format does the meme download as?
JPG by default. Use the Save as buttons to choose PNG, WebP, or keep the original image's format instead.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The text is drawn directly onto the image in your browser — the file never leaves your device.
