Image to WebP

Convert JPG or PNG to WebP for faster pages.

How to use Image to WebP

  1. Drop your JPG or PNG files onto the upload area.
  2. Set the WebP quality with the slider.
  3. Click Convert.
  4. Download each WebP file, or click Download all for a zip.

WebP is the format most web pages should be using for photos and graphics — at the same visual quality it typically comes out 25 to 35% smaller than JPG, which translates directly into a faster page. It's supported natively in every current browser, so there's no compatibility trade-off left to worry about the way there used to be.

This converter decodes your JPG or PNG using the browser's own image codec and re-encodes it as WebP on your device. Nothing is uploaded to a server, so there's no per-file size limit and no queue.

Drop in one file or a batch — if you convert more than one, download them all together as a ZIP.

Questions

How much smaller will my images get?

Typically 25 to 35% smaller than an equivalent JPG at the same visual quality. Results vary by image — photos with lots of fine detail compress less than flat graphics.

Will converting a PNG to WebP lose the transparency?

No. WebP supports an alpha channel the same way PNG does, so transparent areas are preserved rather than needing a background fill the way a JPG conversion would.

Is WebP supported everywhere?

In the browser, yes — every current version of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge displays it natively. Some older image editors and print workflows still don't open it, so keep an original JPG or PNG if you need one of those.

Can I convert many files at once?

Yes — drop in as many JPGs or PNGs as you like in one go. There's no per-file or batch limit set by the site.

Are my images uploaded anywhere?

No. Decoding and re-encoding both happen in your browser tab — the files never leave your device.
