Redact PDF

Before you share a bank statement, ID copy or salary slip, you often need to hide a few details. Drawing a black rectangle in most editors only covers the text: anyone can still select it, copy it, or remove the rectangle. This tool does real redaction instead.

Every page with a mark is rebuilt as an image with the black boxes burnt in, so the covered text no longer exists in the file. Pages you don't mark are copied exactly as they were, with their text still selectable. Hidden form data, bookmarks and document properties are left out of the new file as well.

Quick picks find common Indian details such as Aadhaar, PAN, mobile numbers, email addresses and account numbers, and the search box finds any word or number you type. Patterns can miss text laid out in unusual ways, so always look over the preview before downloading. Everything runs in your browser; the PDF is never uploaded.
