How to use Passport photo maker

  1. Drop a clear, front-facing photo onto the upload area.
  2. Choose the country or document, such as the United States, UK, Schengen, India, Canada or Australia.
  3. Position the crop so your face fits the guide.
  4. Choose an output format and click Crop & download.

Pick the country or document you're applying for and this tool locks the crop box to that document's exact aspect ratio, then exports at the matching pixel size for 300 DPI print quality — the resolution passport photo services and printers expect.

The head-size range shown next to each document (measured chin to crown) is the range most issuing authorities check for, so use it to judge how tightly to crop before downloading.

This tool only crops and resizes — it doesn't remove or replace the background. Photograph yourself against a plain, evenly lit wall matching the background colour listed for your document, then crop here.

Questions

Will this guarantee my photo is accepted?

It gets the size, aspect ratio and pixel dimensions right, which is the part most submissions get rejected for. Background, lighting, expression and head position are still on you — and requirements occasionally change, so double-check the current rules on the issuing authority's own site before you submit.

Why doesn't this remove the background for me?

Clean background removal needs a subject-segmentation model, and the well-supported browser library for that is AGPL-licensed in a way that doesn't fit a closed-source site. Photograph against a plain wall instead — most authorities require a specific plain colour anyway, listed above.

Which size does India actually use now?

As of September 2025, Indian passport applications moved to the 35×45mm ICAO standard (the same shape as the UK and Schengen). The older 2×2 inch square is still used for OCI card applications — both are listed as separate options above.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The crop and resize happen entirely on a canvas in your browser — the file never leaves your device.
