EXIF viewer
See the camera, timestamp and GPS hidden in a photo.
How to use EXIF viewer
- Drop a JPG, PNG or WebP photo straight from a camera or phone onto the upload area.
- Read the metadata table: camera model, lens, exposure settings, date taken and more.
- If the photo has GPS data, check the Location section and click Open in Google Maps to see where it was taken.
Most photos from a phone or camera carry a block of metadata alongside the pixels — EXIF data — recording things like the camera model, the exact time the shutter opened, the exposure settings used, and often the precise GPS coordinates of where it was taken. None of that is visible in the image itself; it's read by software, not by looking at the picture.
This tool reads that block directly and shows it in plain terms: camera and lens, timestamp, shutter speed/aperture/ISO/focal length, and location if it's present, with a link straight to the spot on a map. An "All tags" section underneath shows every other field this parser recognised, for anyone who wants the raw detail.
Screenshots and many re-saved or messaging-app-forwarded images won't have any of this — that's normal, not a sign of a broken file, since re-encoding or screenshotting an image typically discards it.
Questions
Why is there no data for my photo?
Screenshots never had EXIF to begin with, and many apps (messaging apps especially) strip it on upload or re-save. A missing result here just means there was nothing to read, not that anything went wrong.
Is the GPS location accurate?
It's whatever the device recorded at the moment of capture, converted directly from the file's own coordinates — typically accurate to within a few metres on a phone with GPS enabled.
Can I remove this data instead of just viewing it?
That's a separate tool — this one is read-only, purely for inspecting what's there before you decide.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. The file is parsed directly in your browser and never leaves your device — which matters more here than in most tools, since this can include your exact location.
