Blur face

Drag a box over any face or region to blur or pixelate it.

How to use Blur face

  1. Drop the photo you want to anonymise onto the upload area.
  2. Click Add region and drag the box over a face, number plate or anything else you want hidden. Add as many regions as you need.
  3. Pick a style, Blur or Pixelate, and adjust the strength.
  4. Choose an output format under Save as and click Download.

Add a region, drag it over whatever needs hiding — a face, a licence plate, an ID card, a screen in the background — and resize it to fit. Add as many regions as the photo needs.

Blur gives a soft, natural-looking obscure; pixelate gives the blocky, unmistakably-redacted look people associate with anonymised footage. Both have a strength slider, since a small region typically needs less to look fully obscured than a large one.

Everything renders live as you drag and resize, so you can see exactly what the download will look like before you save it.

Questions

Which is more effective at hiding a face — blur or pixelate?

At a strong enough setting, both fully obscure the region. Pixelate is generally considered harder to reverse than a light blur, so if you're unsure, push the strength up rather than relying on a subtle effect.

Can I blur more than one thing in the same photo?

Yes — click "Add region" as many times as you need and position each one independently.

This doesn't find faces for me automatically — why?

Real face detection needs a machine-learning model running in the browser, which adds real weight to the page for a feature not everyone needs. Dragging a box by hand keeps this tool light and works on anything — faces, plates, documents — not just faces.

Is my photo uploaded anywhere?

No. The blur or pixelation is applied entirely on a canvas in your browser — the file never leaves your device.
