Cut audio

Trim MP3 or any audio on a waveform, with fades. Ringtones too. Runs on your device, nothing is uploaded.

How to use Cut audio

  1. 01Drop an MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC file onto the upload area. Its waveform appears.
  2. 02Drag the green edges to the start and end of the part you want, or type exact times. Drag the middle to move the whole selection.
  3. 03Press play to hear just that part. Add a fade in or out if you like, or switch to removing the selection instead.
  4. 04Choose MP3 or WAV and click Cut and download.

Making a ringtone from the chorus of a song, trimming the silence off a voice note, clipping a quote out of a lecture recording: they're all the same job, keeping one part of an audio file and dropping the rest. This tool does it with a waveform you can see and drag, so you can find the loud chorus or the quiet gap at a glance.

The audio is decoded and cut in your browser, and saved as an MP3 (192 kbps) or a lossless WAV. Nothing is uploaded, so private recordings stay on your device, and there's no limit on file length from a server.

Remove selection flips the tool around: the part you select is taken out and the pieces either side are joined, which is handy for cutting an ad break or a mistake out of the middle of a recording. Fades make a clip start and end smoothly, which is what makes a ringtone sound finished.

Questions

Is my audio uploaded?

No. Everything happens inside your browser tab and nothing is sent to a server.

How do I make a ringtone?

Select about 20 to 30 seconds of the song, turn on Fade in and Fade out, save as MP3, then set it as your ringtone in your phone's sound settings.

Can I cut a part out of the middle?

Yes. Select the part you don't want and turn on Remove selection, keep the rest. The two sides are joined smoothly.

Does cutting reduce quality?

WAV keeps the decoded audio exactly. MP3 is re-encoded at 192 kbps, which sounds the same as the original for nearly all listening.

Which formats can I open?

Anything your browser can play: MP3, WAV, M4A and AAC, OGG and Opus, and FLAC in most browsers.
