Headers & footers

Add header and footer text to every page, with page numbers and date. Runs on your device, nothing is uploaded.

How to use Headers & footers

  1. 01Drop a PDF onto the upload area.
  2. 02Type into any of the six boxes: left, centre and right of the header and footer.
  3. 03Click {page}, {total}, {date} or {filename} to insert them into the box you last used.
  4. 04Pick a size and colour, skip the cover if you like, and click Download PDF.

Reports, assignments and contracts often need the same line on every page: the company name and 'Confidential' at the top, the date and 'Page 3 of 12' at the bottom. Adding it in the original document isn't always possible, especially when all you have is the PDF.

This tool writes the text onto each page as real, selectable text with pdf-lib, in your browser. {page} and {total} are filled in per page, {date} becomes today's date and {filename} the file's name. The preview shows exactly where everything lands before you download.

Rotated and landscape pages are handled, so headers sit along the top as the page is read. Nothing else in the PDF changes, and the file is never uploaded.

Questions

Is my PDF uploaded?

No. Headers and footers are added inside your browser tab and nothing is sent to a server.

Can I add page numbers in the footer?

Yes. Type something like Page {page} of {total}. Each page gets its own number.

Can I leave the cover page blank?

Yes. Turn on Skip first page. Page numbers still count the cover as page 1.

Can I write in Hindi?

Not yet. The built-in PDF font covers Latin letters, so use English text for headers and footers.
