JPG to PNG
Convert JPG to lossless PNG. Batch of any size.
How to use JPG to PNG
- Drop your JPG files onto the upload area.
- Click Convert.
- Download each PNG, or click Download all for a zip.
PNG is the format to reach for when you want an exact copy of an image rather than a smaller one — every pixel is preserved, with none of the blocky compression artefacts JPG introduces around sharp edges and text. That matters most when the image is heading into an editor for further work, or being used somewhere those artefacts would actually show.
This converter decodes each JPG using the browser's own image codec and re-encodes it as PNG on your device. Nothing is uploaded to a server first, so there's no per-file size limit and no queue — drop in a handful of photos or a few hundred at once, and conversion speed depends only on your own hardware.
If you convert more than one file, download them all together as a single ZIP rather than one at a time.
Questions
Does converting from JPG to PNG add transparency?
No. A JPG has no alpha channel to begin with, so there's nothing to preserve — the output PNG is fully opaque, just stored losslessly instead of compressed.
Will the PNG be bigger than the original JPG?
Usually yes, often several times larger. JPG's compression is lossy and efficient; PNG stores every pixel exactly, so the file size reflects the image's full detail rather than an approximation of it.
Can I convert a lot of files at once?
Yes — drop in as many JPGs as you like in one go. There's no per-file or batch limit set by the site.
Does converting improve a JPG's quality?
No. Whatever compression artefacts already exist in the source JPG carry over unchanged — PNG preserves the image exactly as it is, it doesn't remove damage that's already there.
Are my images uploaded anywhere?
No. Decoding and re-encoding both happen in your browser tab — the files never leave your device.
