Image size checker

See dimensions, format and weight before you upload anywhere.

How to use Image size checker

  1. Drop your images onto the upload area. You can check as many as you like at once.
  2. Read the dimensions in pixels, file size and format shown for each image.
  3. Remove a file with its X button, or click Clear to start again.

Most upload forms state their requirements in pixels, megapixels or kilobytes, and a file's name or icon doesn't tell you any of that. This tool reads the actual dimensions, format and file size directly, so you know before you upload whether a photo meets a passport photo spec, an exam portal's limit, or a website's recommended size.

Drop in as many files as you like and each one gets checked independently — useful for going through a folder of photos at once rather than opening them one by one.

Nothing is uploaded anywhere to check this — the dimensions are read locally in your browser, which also makes it instant regardless of how many files you drop in.

Questions

Why does the format sometimes show differently than the file extension?

The format shown reflects the file's actual content type, not just its extension — a renamed file (a JPEG saved with a .png extension, say) will still show its real format here.

What does the aspect ratio number mean?

It's the width-to-height ratio reduced to its simplest form, like 16:9 or 4:3 — useful for checking whether a photo matches a required shape before cropping it.

Can I check a lot of images at once?

Yes — drop in as many as you like and each is read independently, with no limit set by the site.

Is anything uploaded to check this?

No. Every file is read directly in your browser — nothing is sent anywhere, which is also why there's no size limit.
