How to use Add page numbers

01Drop a PDF onto the upload area.
02Pick where the number goes: any corner, or centred at the top or bottom.
03Choose a format, the starting number, and whether to skip the cover page. The preview updates as you go.

Project reports, theses and assignments usually have to be numbered, and printed copies are much easier to put back in order when they are. This tool adds the numbers to an existing PDF without opening it in an editor or re-exporting it from Word.

The numbers are written into each page as real text with pdf-lib, inside your browser. The original pages aren't redrawn, so the rest of the document stays exactly as it was, and the file never gets uploaded anywhere.

Skip first page leaves the cover unnumbered and starts counting on page two, and Start at lets the count begin anywhere, for example at 5 if this PDF continues an earlier part. Landscape and rotated pages are handled too, so the number always sits the right way up where you put it.
