Remove metadata
Strip EXIF, GPS and camera data before you post.
Removes EXIF, GPS, camera and every other metadata block — the image itself is untouched, just re-saved without the invisible data attached to it.
How to use Remove metadata
- Drop your photos onto the upload area.
- Choose an output format under Save as.
- Click Strip metadata to remove the GPS location, camera details and other EXIF data.
- Download each clean file, or click Download all for a zip.
A photo straight off a phone or camera usually carries a metadata block most people never see: camera make and model, the exact capture timestamp, and often the precise GPS coordinates of where it was taken. None of that is visible in the picture — it travels along with the file until something strips it.
This re-saves each photo from scratch, which is what actually removes it: the new file is built pixel-for-pixel from what's on screen, with no path for the old metadata block to carry over. If the original had an EXIF rotation tag, it's applied to the pixels first so the photo still comes out the right way up.
Drop as many photos as you like — each one gets the same treatment, and you can download them all as a zip when they're done.
Questions
Will this affect image quality?
JPEG and WebP are re-encoded at a high quality setting (0.95) chosen to be visually lossless in practice; PNG is always lossless regardless. The dimensions and appearance stay the same — only the invisible metadata is gone.
Does this remove more than just EXIF?
Yes — GPS, camera info, timestamps, software tags, ICC colour profiles and any other embedded metadata block all go, since none of it can survive a full re-encode. If you want to see what's there before you strip it, use the EXIF viewer first.
Will my photo look sideways after this?
No — if the original relied on an EXIF orientation tag to display right-side up, that rotation is applied directly to the pixels before the metadata is dropped, so the output looks identical.
Is my photo uploaded anywhere?
No. Every photo is re-encoded entirely in your browser and never leaves your device.
