Resize GIF

Scale an animation without breaking the loop.

How to use Resize GIF

  1. Drop an animated GIF onto the upload area.
  2. Pick a percentage, or enter a width and height. Keep proportions stays on by default.
  3. Click Resize. Every frame keeps its original timing.
  4. Click Download.

This changes only the pixel dimensions — every frame, its exact display time, and the animation's looping are all otherwise untouched. If you also want a smaller file size (fewer colours, dropped frames), use the Compress GIF tool instead; this one is purely about the size on screen.

Type an exact width and height, or use a quick percentage of the original. "Keep proportions" adjusts the other dimension automatically so the animation doesn't stretch out of shape — turn it off if you deliberately want a different aspect ratio.

The GIF is fully decoded first (correctly reassembling every frame, since GIFs typically only store what changed frame to frame) before each one is scaled and re-encoded, so nothing about the original animation's structure gets lost in the process.

Questions

How is this different from Compress GIF?

Compress GIF trades away colours and frames to shrink the file. This tool only changes pixel dimensions and leaves colours, frame count and timing exactly as they were — for when you specifically need a different size, not a smaller file.

Will resizing distort my animation?

Not if "Keep proportions" stays on — the other dimension is calculated automatically to match the original aspect ratio. Turning it off lets you set both independently, which will stretch the image if the ratio doesn't match.

Does resizing affect the loop or timing?

No — every frame's exact display duration is preserved, and the output always loops continuously.

Is my GIF uploaded anywhere?

No. It's decoded, resized and re-encoded entirely in your browser — the file never leaves your device.
