Edit PDF metadata
Change or remove a PDF's title, author and other hidden details. Runs on your device, nothing is uploaded.
How to use Edit PDF metadata
- 01Drop a PDF onto the upload area. Its current properties fill the boxes.
- 02Change any of them, or clear a box to remove that entry. Remove everything empties them all.
- 03Click Save PDF to download the updated file under the same name.
Every PDF carries hidden details: a title, the author's name, the app that made it and when. They often give away more than you mean to: a title of 'Microsoft Word - resume_v7_FINAL (2)', a laptop user name as the author, or a creation date months older than the cover letter. Anyone can read them under Document properties.
This tool shows those details and lets you change or clear them. The title is worth setting properly: browsers show it in the tab and search engines can show it in results. Saving only touches the metadata; pages, text and quality stay exactly as they were.
Some apps also embed an XMP block, a second, XML copy of the same details. When a PDF has one, you can remove it as well. Everything happens in your browser, so the file is never uploaded.
Questions
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The metadata is read and written inside your browser tab and nothing is sent to a server.
How do I remove the author name from a PDF?
Clear the Author box, or click Remove everything, then Save PDF.
Does it change the content of the PDF?
No. Only the document properties change; every page stays identical.
Why doesn't my change show in my PDF viewer?
Some viewers cache document properties. Close and reopen the file, or check it in another viewer.
